ファーイーストとは英語で極東のこと。
その名の通り元々のメンバーは日中韓の血を継ぐアメリカ人3人だったが、本拠としていた場所はロサンゼルスのコリアタウン。
後にフィリピン系アメリカ人がメンバーに加わり4人組となる。

アルバム「Free Wired」からの楽曲「Like a G6」はBillboard Hot 100で1位を獲得した。
