イギリスのシンガーソングライター。
住所不定だった孤高のシンガー・ソングライターが、「たった1枚のアルバムで世界へ羽ばたいた」と評される天才。

2013年、映画『ホビット 竜に奪われた王国』のエンド・クレジットに書き下ろし曲『I See Fire（英語版）』が使用された。

2014年リリースのアルバム「x（マルティプライ）」は、イギリス・アメリカともにアルバム・チャートで初登場1位を獲得。イギリスではプラチナ・ディスクに認定された。

この曲のプロデュースはあのPharrell Williamsですが、この点どどう捉えればいいのか。
なにしろ彼の場合、芸風（？）がHappyの時とGet Luckyの時とでは随分違います。

前者Happyの流れでこの曲をプロデュースしているのだとすると女性支持率が大変高そうな曲になるのですが、逆に後者Get Luckyの流れだった場合うっかり「踏み込んで」訳してしまうと…危険です。
第一連「So maybe we could get down now」の「get　down」の訳し方で流れが変わるので、苦労しました。
